Succession and Strategy
My focus for 2021 and beyond is on succession strategies and planning. You will have noticed our new full-time GM, Steve Dooks, working to get the courts ready with our veteran volunteers, Donnie, Ernie, and Garnett. The long-term plan is for the GM to ultimately take the load off these same volunteers.
As our new GM, Steve will be working hard to document all that is required to prepare the courts for future club GMs. At the Board level, we are also working to document, update, and pass on management information for future board members. Right now, we’re focused on updating the Club's Bylaws, which will be updated and modernized over the next 3-4 months. Thanks to Lyle Goldberg, Greg Milner, and Iain MacLeod, the new Bylaws will be ready for your review in preparation for the club AGM this coming fall.
The Board is also developing a Confidentiality Policy. You trust us with confidential information (email, phone number, address) and we take your privacy very seriously.
Financial planning
I see 2021 as a year to start making long-term projections for club improvements over the next ten years. From the court resurfacing to lights, from clubhouse repairs to renovation, all need to be planned and budgeted for.
We have been working with the province to identify grants that may help the club: ones we have used in the past and a few new ones. We have also been working closely with our Councilor, Sam Austin, who has provided both guidance and support.
