About St. George’s

Our tennis club is nestled within a Central Dartmouth neighbourhood, specifically on St. George’s Lane. We’ve been a local institution since 1885 and have featured grass courts, clay courts, and hard courts over the years. We now feature five Hydro Har-Tru courts—a clay surface which is excellent for children to develop skills on, makes for long rallies and good workouts, and is easy on your joints. We also have a clubhouse that features change-rooms and a large deck perfect for unwinding after a hit.

We are a non-profit community organization devoted to providing you with a fun, friendly, and affordable option to play tennis. St. George’s offers programs such as lessons, drop-in doubles, and informal tournaments for members. We also are lucky to have an enthusiastic and welcoming membership who are always up to play. If you or your family are interested in tennis, we’d be delighted if you gave us a visit.

The Club

We feature five Hydro Har-Tru courts–a green clay surface made from billion-year-old Pre-Cambrian metabasalt found in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. It is a natural green stone that is extremely hard and angular—two very important qualities when it comes to tennis court construction.

We have one singles court, and four doubles. In 2019, we added a mini court for children. Our clubhouse features change-rooms, a function space, and a large deck perfect for unwinding after a hit.
